How can I help? We have a few simple tools you can use to benefit financially as well as personally.
If you are in the vicinity of a large city, have you considered forming or finding a group via www.meetup.com for support for your specific need? I'll be glad to sponsor any such group, when i am able to do so.
I used to work in the health care field in geriatric and special needs care. I learned that if a family is trying to go it alone without a break periodically that this can impact the type of care your loved one receives and impact your own health as well. It makes sense to find or form a support group of people you can trust and who know the best way to help. Don't go it alone.
Sorry if I may seem as if I don't know what I am doing with this group. I searched through groups on this site looking for friends in similar situation as me. I couldn't find a special need parent group, and so I created one. You all are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope that something could benefit someone from this group. God bless.
There are the obvious special needs, such as Down Syndrome, CP, and the like. These are very easily identified and the support groups in existence for families challenged by them are fairly common, at least in the USA.
But what about special needs that aren't as easily identified? I am thinking of ...
My special needs daughter is now 17 years old. She is so joyful, hopeful and faithful. She loves Jesus and she knows she would be nothing without Him. She has sensory integration dysfunction which mostly effects her ability to read. She is going into 11th grade and has a 3rd grade reading ability. Pray for Toria as we moved this summer and she will be attending a different high school.
Hello. Just a quick introduction. I'm a blessed mother to a beautiful 23 y/o woman who was born with spina bifida and is a paraplegic as a result. God has been so good to our family and Rachel my daughter is a wonderful young woman who surely knows how to use a pair of wheels! Glad to be here.
JustMeTiff God bless you and your precious daughter. Thank you for sharing. I am new to this creating group thing, but would love to make something positive out of it.308 days ago
Hey TIFFANY....thank you for your heart for the special needs. I, do not have special needs children, friends, family....but I wanted you to know that you have my support!
JustMeTiff Thank you so much. I had just searched on here for a group that would be geared toward special needs parents, and there wasn't one. So I created one. Not sure really what I am doing, but trying.308 days ago
I'd love to introduce myself. My name is Tiffany, and I am a parent of a son with special needs. Many things are a challenge both for him and for me. I'd love to share and even learn from others with this group.
JustMeTiff Not really sure what I am doing, but thought there needed to be a group for this subject when I searched and couldn't find one. :)308 days ago
This group is for parents or family members that have children with special needs in their lives. As a parent of a special needs child myself, and the creator of this group, I just wanted to make a place to share with others. It's not in any way an easy thing in life to handle, but with God, and with each other we can do anything.
